    the macbooks all have this, and i think it's a cool feature...probably one of the only things i like about the mac :p

    No, it isn't. That's unique to the MacBook Pro at this time (regular MacBooks don't have this either).

    regular MacBooks used to have it :) but they wanted to make the macbook pro look better then then the macbook so people will pay $1000 more

    The regular MacBook has never had a backlit keyboard. That's been a feature that has been reserved for the MacBook Pro (and the PowerBook G4 before that).

    For what it's worth, the backlit keyboard is the least of the differentiating factors between the MacBook and the MacBook Pro.
