i'm thinking of getting a dell inspriron, but i'm very unhappy with it's size and weight (the 1520 model). i want a laptop with a dedicated video card, so 1525 is out of the equation. does anyone know if there is going to be a new inspiron model or a dedicated video card option for 1525 or should i just go for it?

Then you go for the XPS 1530.

The 1525 just came out, so no. Plus, it's unlikely Dell will put a dedicated card into their next-gen Inspirons.

It's an XPS, or you're just gonna have to grit you're teeth and get a 1520.

And if those aren't options you might have to get a Crap-a-fied-HP or something else :(.

The 1420 was released summer of last year...Given Dell's product cycle it should be around 6 more months (give or take a couple of months) before we see new Inspiron and XPS laptops.

Every time the Processor upgrades... Dell brings up a whole set of Inspiron with the processor.... This happens when santa rosa became economical.. They obsolute inspiron 6400/9300 and brings Inspiron 1520 1720 there.. so I hope that after the penryn processor become economical(It should take 3-4 month to reduct its price so that it can came to inspiron models).. We sould see a new set of Inspiron line from Dell...

I think they'll keep pretty much the current line-up until the Montevina chipset comes out and they'll produce the next series - it's not so much processor led as platform led (CPU and chipset). Until then Penryns only benefit is the extra cache and bragging rights.

Montevina (the successor to Santa Rosa) is slated for sometime in May, correct me if I'm wrong.

It may be possible to see new models around then, or thereafter.
