ill buy my own 2gb of ram for $45 AR
and when i call in, im very tempted to upgrade to the 2ghz chip for another $175..or incase they dont wanna let me downgrade the ram, ill tell them if they do, ill up the cpu

what are everyones thoughts!?

What did you use to get the deal? It's okay (note that the lojack wont take off $99- should be $69).

Also, they have become very strict about modifiying orders. Lately, they are forcing everyone to cancel and reorder which bumps ship date and also likely causes you to lose the deal you were using.

I'm doing an upgrade on RAM and after some email coupons etc, the config I am getting is $1900 (tax/shipping/ram upgrade included)

It is the t7500, 4gb ram, 200gb 7200rpm, dvdrw, audigy, 8400, bluetooth, wireless-N, fingerprint, LED, 3-year in home warranty service.

im really happy with my deal. I think your deal is also really solid at ~1500

Just so you know, you'll have to cancel and re-order if you change any of the actual specs (like processor and ram).

 

I would personally keep the 2 Gb Ram and simply cancel the printer.

With the all of the bouncing around Dell has been doing these past few days with discounts and coupons I would say that you should order first and cancel the other after it goes through. It would really be a shame if you were to cancel this order then have the rep tell you that something is no longer available or whatnot. That's what I'd do.

4GB ram is very expensive on dell so i think u got it from a street market i wonder if dell made that

 

how much of a difference would 5400rpm make vs 7200?
plus wouldnt it be louder and emit more heat?

 

All of the reviews I read have told me that the extra noise and heat on the newer drives is negligible/very small.

im still having serious 2nd thoughts..i cant decide if i should go for a more highend 2ghz 4mb + 160gb 7200rpm, or just keep things cheaper and go 1.5 2mb + 120gb 5400

the price difference between the combos is about $425 ><

even though i have a year to pay it off, $400 is a nice was of cash

basically, im looking at $1400 with 1.5ghz 120gb 5400
or $1800 with 2ghz 160gb 7200..

then on TOP of that, im going to try and use a $200 off university coupon!
