Dude, Im getting a Dell .... prolly the most overused statement on this forum.
Anywhoo, I had to order at night, which wasn't plesant. Dell outsources their call centers at night to Hyderabad, which is in India. Not the easiest thing to do when you're speaking to a hindu who speaks only passable english. What's even worse is arguing for discounts. Took me two hours to apply for $250 off coupon, which was hell. First the sales associate wouldn't let me apply it, then i spoke to his manager who wouldn't let me apply. Then I spoke to the call center manager who wouldn't let me apply it. Then I played hardball with him and after "promising" to buy a 37" Dell LCD and 5 gig Jukebox at a later date he finally gave me $250 off.![]()
If this has taught me anything, call during the day they have a call center in the US or Canada.
Plus they wouldn't give me a student discount or a return buyers discount that everyone over here on this forum was talking about... **** me for being canadian.
Can't wait for the 9300 to come in the mail.
-
ugh, i hate it when that happens, i ordered mine at like 7:30, and i talked to someone who could barely speak english... i was like wtf. But yeah, icant wait for my B130. Did you have to buy the LCD? or you just said you would
-
I just said I was considering a Dell LCD as a x-mas gift but couldn't commit yet because I haven't shopped around yet. No way in hell I'd think about purchasing anything else from them after this negative customer service experience.

hey jhwyung
Im trying to find a deal on a 9300 too.. and im canadian aswell.. so its pretty hard. I was just wondering how much you got yours for and with what specs?
Been searching and reading in these forums for awhile now.. haha but so far all the good deals are only for dell.com and not dell.ca.. and i dunno if its worth buying for $2000-$2300 as i`ve read from everyone else.. it seems everyone only gets a dell because of the $750off or 30%-40%off...
thanx! for any help -

I had to fight tooth and nail for that one. Best bet is call during the day. Then say u have a 250 off coupon. But I'd order today tho cause the free ram upgrade is over tmrw and they'll prolly replace it with something crappy -
thanx!
gonna check it out, but i think i already checked out dell.ca`s current promo specs and its not quite what i wanted.. so it looks like im gonna have to wait some more..
Is there a student discount? i heard some people talk about it before too, but im not sure how to get it and what it is.. anyone know? -
It is not just at night when they outsource calls.

I was told my the registrar's office (i goto UWaterloo) that we're eligeble for a 10% discount, but the bugger that was helping said he wasn't going to give me another 10% off cause he had to "fight" to get me 250 off. I kno he's lying through my teeth cause the first time I called a guy by the name of ashwin gave me a $250 coupon at the start of the conversation.
I'm sending a strongly worded letter to dell complaining about the lack of consistancy and continuity between sales people. I spend 5 bucks buying a pen at Staples and get treated like a king by their sales staff, I should be treated in the same manner (if not better) when I'm making a $2000 purchase. -
Most colleges and universities do have a student discount, so check with your university. These discounts are usually not valid with any other offers, so if you find a 750 off coupon or % off, you are better off going with it, instead of the discount through the university. The coupons are also not valid with any other offers.
All of the coupons that are published on our site, unless specifically stating otherwise, are only valid on online purchases. Dell for some reason doesn't normally honor these coupons over the phone unless you have configured and saved your purchase online, and then call them to make a payment.

yea i got that speil from them too, but i was persistant and polite so i guess i was able to get a discount. either or, i spent 2 hours on the phone. they better not screw my order up

That's what I meant. 99% of the time it is cheaper to go with the coupons versus the student discount.
In fact, you might not even have to go thru your unviserty to get the discount information. I called Dell earlier this year, and just asked if they had a discount program with my university. They said yes, but that there were better deals if you went thru the home site which was offering a certain amount off. This was before I found out about the dell coupons.
