so i bought a used dell inspiron 700m had bunch of stickers on it but i cleaned that up pretty good.
battery is dead and ac adapter seen better days but still works.

the thing i didnt nottice when buying is that the screen was alot dimmer than a normal laptop and the whites are a lil yellow shade kinda like incandescent builb color.

the screen is not completely dark, theres some backlight but its really hard o read like that.

the battery is dead and it shows as 0% and charging all the time
doesnt show the type of battery or any other info
doesnt detect it in bios either.
    ac adapter works fine tho
i even tested it with another ac adapter
i took the whole thign apart for cleaning and found that most of the power connector pins were loose so i fixed that.
still didnt do any battery charging.

and i have few questions about it also

the bios menu seems very simple and theres really no settings related to graphics as some people say. ??? am i looking in the wrong place?

is there a software that will give me more options for graphics card in windows? the intel adapter drivers are not really usefull.

is there a wifi+bluetoth wireless card that will work with this laptop?

there seems to be a lot of different model numbers for the batteries on ebay
(hong-kong seller) do i have to buy same exact model number although itis same physically?

heres te difference between the laptop and my desktop screen

What kind of settings are you looking for? If I recall correctly, there is only a setting for center or stretch screen. Also you can adjust brightness with Fn+Up and Down, unless your computer's a little messed up.

Regarding the battery not charging, you might need to buy a new one, or the connection on the motherboard could simply be stuffed. You can't really tell unless you have a battery you know works.

Does the brightness of the screen change when you press Fn+Up and Fn+Down?
If it does, the brightness is probably normal as desktop screens are usually brighter.

ye it does change with FN up down.
but this lapto is like the supposedly super bright screen back when it came out because every review rants about how bright and crisp the screen is.

well anyway i checked all the resources i could and it doesnt look like a software issue. i have the backlight on the way so im gonna replace it and see.

hopefully it will fix the problem.

Maybe the backlight is broken or worn.

hey, i'm using my 700m right now (it's my only computer and i've had it for 4 years) and the screen definitely should not look like that.

i would try replacing the backlight if it's not too expensive and go from there

I have a handful of these at work, they are pretty good but not sure what you state on these reviews you found. I have used them all at full brightness and they really arent that crazy blinding.

As stated above with the battery you wont know till you get another one to test with, if you were local I could always loan you a battery to see if its that.

On old dells there really are not many options in the bios, what you see is what they give you.

When you say more options for the graphics card, what are you really looking to do?

I have not really searched around, but I do not think these support bluetooth. I could be wrong about that, but either was those easy bluetooth dongles can work that people use in the usb.

I would never buy a battery from a place overseas like that, I just do not trust them enough.

And your monitor does not look healthy on the laptop.
