    just received my new vostro 1500!

    It's a great machine! The pictures you see on the internet does not do it justice and I really like it.

    Specs:

    2.ghz processor
    8600mgt
    120gb harddrive
    2mp webcam
    no bluetooth
    1280x800 screen

    What I am really interested to know now, is what programs and windows processes are not import and I can delete. It's the first time I am using vista and it's a bit confusing.

    the software that comes with the notebook is usually junk. choose what u like and delete the rest. if u want u can do a clean install

    sorry to hi-hack your thread, but did you get a matte or truelife display?

    If matte, could you check the display properties what model it is (LPL..., SEC..., AUO...) and how happy you are with it (viewing angles, colours, contrast)?

    As for the software, i did a clean install of XP and Vista on mine and apart from the drivers i only put Dell Quickset and the Webcam Manager on it, had no use for the rest of the software.

    I got a matte display(i don't like truelife because of the reflectiveness). It's a great screen. Black is black, and white is white. I have no idea how to check who made the screen. sorry
