my laptop came with a BEAUTIFUL screen. however, there is a loud grind sound that comes from the fan. it is not from the hard drive. ive checked.
i cant figure out a way to access the fan. is there any way to fix this?

Can you upload a video to YouTube with the sounds clearly audible?

Could be a bad sleeve or bearing on the fan... how have you isolated that it's not the hard drive?

yeah its only audible when air comes out of the system. i tried sticking a paper into the far and i can change how loud that sound is. its less audible when i turn the fan up really high. the sound is similar to running your finger across a comb.

I've been having this same problem and at first I thought it was the hdd because when I searched vostro noise that's what came up. So I tried running the Notebook Hardware Control and adjusting the BIOS settings but it didn't help a bit.

Now inspecting my laptop more closely I realized the sound is coming from the upper left corner where the fan is located and it does get louder when the fan is on high.

I uploaded a short recording of the sound here

What would you suggest I do?

@ the OP: This is OT, but what is your screen's native resolution?
