I just finished editing and ripping a 1080p video on my ole cheapy dell. The fans SCREAMED in contentment. Ha ha. Needless to say I can do it if I need to, However....I cannot wait to get my new desktop system up and running. It will be much faster, and quieter in my office.

Awesome, just noticed that! Cool. Well, I could not wait to build my system to start video editing so I bought a new one today. A dell XPS 8940 desktop, 24" ultrasharp monitor to go along with my ultrasharp touchscreen I already have. The specs of the new box are 10700 i7, RTX 2070 8gb video card, 16gb of ram, 512gb NVME and a 2 tb 7200 drive. That will get me started. Oh, a blue ray burner incase clients want blue rays created for their media. This will be very quickly updated to 128gb of ram (save 700 bucks on my end for doing it myself), adding 3 SSD for scratch drives for resolve, and swapping out the 2tb drive for a 12-14tb drive for storage. At least I have something that wont fry trying to cope with editing 4k footage.
