I've a recent problem with my Inspirion laptop. For example, when typing in a search request in IE I'll get numbers instead of alphabet. When entering numbers in a cell (in excel) I get odd results like the first number can be anything followed by the correct ones. Very frustrating, but will rectify after a time and settle down..... alpha to alpha and #'s to #'s. And no, I don't have the numbers lock on so it has to be some other key.

Maybe try reinstalling the drivers? Could be a bad keyboard. I'm also going to move this thread to the Inspiron/Studio forum.
