hi...this is my first time to post a message in this forum because i am trying to find help on my dad's mini laptop (dell inspiron)..it worked very well since bought about 3 years ago..my dad always plug in the AC cable and work very often..but then the battery start to malfunction..whenever he turn on the power button, nothing appears on the screen..the battery icon beside the power button turns red for few seconds and then out...the cable is working, shown by a green light on the power supply...when unplugging the battery for direct AC power supply, it worked...but only for a few days...pressing the power button only light up the battery icon for few seconds with nothing on the screen..this happens last year...is this problem associated with a virus?...it has antivirus AVG 2011..can anyone please help?..

    thank you..i appreciate your time...

no, viruses don't effect the boot process. It sounds like something is wrong with the battery since that is the only thing the battery light would be statusing.
