    latitude 600 mouse buttons problem

    the left and right click buttons are not working everytime but an external mouse is working fine, any ideas please, is this software or hardware?

    1) Check your settings in Control Panel
    2) Reboot
    3) Check your driver
    3) Try a Linux distro
    4) It's a hardware problem

    tried all of that, right-click works with Linux distro but the left-click does not work at all so since this is a hardware problem, what exactly need replacing please?

    You'll need to replace the little touchpad PCB assembly that's screwed under the palmrest. Usually you won't be able to buy this thing by itself; you'll need to buy the entire palmrest. It's a good idea to do so anyways if you don't know exactly which part of the touchpad is broken. It's usually under 10 dollars for the entire thing on ebay, and palmrests from the D600 and M60 will both work.

    And of course Dell has a service manual for the D600 that will instruct you in removing the palmrest.
