On all LCDs, yes, but it varies from severity of it from different LCD screens.

Most LCDs have minimal light leakage while others are horrendous, so it's pretty much the batch you get is what it is.

ya i believe they ended up sending me 2 replacements which were shipped to me for me to replace and i sent them both back because my original was best and decided to settle on it....It was like a year and a half ago but I believe my LCD is a Samsung screen and they were most common for having the problem at the time....and LG Philips were the best at the time. I have no idea what my 1700 is gonna have in it or if anyone has looked, nor do i know which ones are better in this generation of screens.

ummmm I believe we found it by going to Dell's support site and looking at the Original System Configuration and it said like SAM LCD or something I'll try to find it again.

okay its quite easy. go to support.dell.com and on the left side select technical support.....go down in the submenu and click system configuration....punch in your service tag and submit and then look for where it says something like " LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 17, WXGA+, VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC., SAMSUNG" thats how mine reads

uhhh...not sure what brand that is...we need to get some other people to do the same and note if they have issues with it or not.....I know when I bought my E1705 a lot of people complained bout the 9300 and the 9400/E1705 having issues with screens
