    life expectancy for the 1420

    Hi all,
    First post. I have a 1420 and was just wondering if any body has any guesses for the next generation of 14 inch laptops. I notice there is no 14" Vostro, XPS or plans for the Studio line to have one. If i need a replacement in a couple of years , what will it be? Thanks

    Well I don't know about a 14 inch but a new 13 inch Inspiron is coming on in the next few weeks - I think next week.

    I think that the 14" class will stick around. If you haven't noticed, notebooks are quickly becoming anything from 7" to 20" and everything in between. The manufacturers will decide how the want to position and market the various sizes to people, but I am sure 14" will stick around. It has a pretty nice bulk / performance ratio.

    The 14'' laptop will be around, but how long will the 1420 laptop be around as it is currently.

    I think maybe in the next 6 months it will be gone. New platform coming out. I don't imagine they would sell two platforms at the same time ...

    I think at this point it`s anybodys guess whats coming next in 14" models. No doubt it`s a popular footprint and will get a replacement in the future. i have a 1420 also and hope whatever is coming is as good. Hope this helps.
