    hey guys,
I'm going to format my 9300 and do a clean install of xp pro but before i do that i need a list of drivers that i'll have to download and burn. Can you guys compile a list for me cause i'm not totally sure what will work when i do a clean format, mind you the copy of xp pro is quite old, pre-sp1, so i would be very surprised if any of the drivers were installed properly
    thx!

Every driver you need should be on Dell.com

You can find the 9300 Windows XP drivers HERE .

Just make sure your downloading the drivers. (whouldn't hurt to download the Diagnostic stuff, just to have on hand)

This is what you should be downloading.

    Audio Drivers
    - SIGMATEL STAC 975X AC97
    Chipset
    - Intel Mobile Chipset
    Communication Drivers
    - Conexant D110,MDC,1.5,v.92

    Those should be Default.

The rest of the drivers you will need, will depend on what you have on your system, use the summary sheet that should have came with your system, which states what components are in the machine.

like bandaid said, it depends on your hardware...

Basically from the website that he gave, you'll need a driver from each of the following categories:
    *audio
    *chipset
    *communication
    *flashbios
    *input
*ide/eide---only if you ordered a 5400rpm drive. If you order a 7200rpm, do not get anything from this category.
*network drivers --ethernet driver is broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated controller
--wireless driver will depend on what you ordered
-- bluetooth driver is dell 350 bluetooth if you ordered bluetooth
*removable storage--cd/dvd drive driver. easiest way to determine what drive you have is to go to your device manager and it will be listed there. (start menu-->right click on my computer-->select manage-->click on device manager under system tools-->double click on cd/dvd drive) It might also be listed on your invoice.
*system/configuration utilities--notebook system software:will run one time and fix conflicts within your hardware
*video card--depends on what you ordered

For the rest of the categories, it is optional to download anything. In display devices and printing devices, unless you ordered an external display or printer, you won't download anything. Applications is also option, but does have some helpful programs like quickset that you might want.

You only need a display driver if you have an external monitor that you bought from dell. This is not for your LCD screen that is already attached to your laptop. Your video card driver will be the driver for you LCD screen.
