I purchased the Creative Audigy Advacned HD program the other day, wow, this thing is really cool. That EAX is fun to play around with and listen as the songs sound all echo-y and stuff. It came iwht a few other programs, this midi type program, and a wave editior. Did it make my regular sound better? not really; Did it give me a bunch of programs to play with and something to brag about? Yuppers lol

Thats cool - as long as you enjoy it. :->
-
so the audigy $25 upgrade is just software, not hardware thou?
-
Just software.
I algo bought it (aware of this), but only to get past the $2000 mark, in order to use a coupon. It was the cheapest add on I guess. -
Yeah it just kinda 'tweaks' the sound doesn't really improve the quality.
Still fun to play around with though. -
and, it actually makes the speakers louder
best money i ever spent, including the laptop -
Really? the Audigy made the sound louder. I guess for 25$ that's not too bad of a deal. I know that making laptop speakers louder is always a plus in my book, except of course when it reaches the physical limitations of the speaker.
-
so technically, you could just download this software.. if you found it, and it would work. The hardware components don't affect this upgrade at all?
-
oh ok
just the software
i just copied the cd before returning my e1705 -
LOL....I thought it was a new speaker. How do you know its louder? Have you tried it on both settings? Is there someway I can get this software then without paying the 25 dollars? Cause Im trying to make the best economical system
-
Unfortunately, the software is activation-enabled, requires a keycode, then a process that connects you to creatives web site, where you need to activate.
I haven't tried to bypass that process, but it does take you through it, plus, it does notice that the keycode has been installed already (at Dell?) and asks why you are needing to reactivate a second time.
Again, I haven't tried getting around that process...maybe it isn't necessarily required...who knows. -
Just a friendly reminder, please do not post illegal solutions. I know this is frustrating, but posting illegal solutions and causing the thread to be locked is not going to help.

I needed the (Audigy upgrade) $23 dollar increase to get over $1,999 as well. After wondering about an actual physical speaker / or just software addition, I went to (Creative, I think) site and saw they were selling it for $29.
Also, there is an 'HD' in the description, so who knows what it actually gives you, if nothing else, a Placebo for the ear is worth the Twenty bucks.
But, is this loaded audio software just one more of the 40+ features I will need to deal with when I Reformat the HD? ARGGG ! -
The 'HD' is there because the Sigmatel 9200 chip (the sound card you get whether or not you bought the incredibly deceptive 'Audigy' software upgrade) supports 24-bit, 192Khz playback. So theoretically it can playback an SACD or DVD-A disc without downsampling. That would be considered high definition audio playback.
BTW guys, just because you have an order slip with the word Audigy in it, doesn't mean you have an Audigy sound card! So y'all can take that off your sigs, mmmkay? -
Even if you don't order your system w/ the Audigy software, Dell ships your notebook w/ the option to upgrade via Audigy's website for only $19.99.
-
ahh thats wack, i paid the extra money just for software? i reformatted my e1405, so does anyone know where i can re-dl the software?
-
Has anyone tried calling dell and requesting the SB audigy disc? Someone said that they got a disc with their system that had the necessary software on it.
-
if you purchase your system with audigy software then it should be in the box with the laptop
however i think you can just request the CDs together with the OS, the drivers... -
if i reformat, could i download the stuff back?
-
i believe you can download all the drivers throu dell website..however not the audigy thing... (i think)
-
-
the size on my cd is about 87 mbs... so maybe thats only the driver...
the cd contains all the software (thats why it costs $25) -
lol I bought the Audigy upgrade
