On my new m1530, T9500, 8600m gt, 4 gigs (3.5 recognized) I am getting a 3Dmark06 score of only 4076, this is on the free basic version. reading other scores with the m1530 this seems pretty low. what do you think?

3DMark scores get inflated due to epeen around the forums. A stock GDDR3 8600m GT scored 3700 when it was released.

    My scores, everything at stock:

    m1530, t7500, 3gb ram, 8600m gt gddr3.

    m1530 vista driver: v.7.15.11.5663
    2001se 20742
    2006 4169

    m1530 vista driver: v.7.15.11.7431
    2001se 25037
    2006 4529

    m1530 xp driver: v.7.15.11.7431
    2001se 28141
    2006 4635

I just click benchmark in 3dmark, so thats 1280x800 for 3dmark2006 i think. I dont know if that changes to 1280x1024 depening on your screen res tho as i have a 1440x900 screen.

Running it at 1280x800 inflates your score up to as much as 1000 points. As a benchmark, 3DMark06 needs to be run at 1280x1024. 1440x900 can be used as a good estimate.

He can't run it at 1280x1024 though. Only WSXGA screens can; he only has WXGA+. Can the free version run at 1440x900? I thought that the free version could only run at either 1280x800 or 1280x1024, depending on the screen's height.

Then you need to hook it up to an external that can run it at the proper resolution. Bottom line is that you can't compare 1280x800 scores with 1280x1024.

So true, I thought there was something wrong with mine when I was getting lower scores than a weaker, less expensive model of the m1530.

so my scores are ok for a fresh out of the box m1530?

im not real worried about it because the windows scores for graphics are 5.7 for gaming, and cod 4 runs pretty smooth with all high settings and 1680x1050 native resolution.

is there a way to get better performance besides latest drivers and overclocking?

The only thing I could think of would be a complete reinstall of Vista, but the increase in performance would be minimal.
