Not sure if this is the right forum, so mods please move as needed.

Been outta the loop for a while as to the situation w/ the m1210's webcam and Skype. A few months ago I read that the version of Skype available on the Dell driver download page was the only one that will allow Skype video chat on the XPS m1210. Is this still the case?

The reason I ask is that lately whenever I chat w/ Skype, the other party can hear & see me fine, but I can just barely hear them. I'm not sure if this is due to the m1210's crappy speakers, low bandwidth, Skype itself or the quickcam, but I'd like to at least start checking some things off the list.

Anybody besides me having these kinds of problems?

    Thanks!

    HH ;)

    I experienced the same problem.
Not only Skype but also MSN messenger.
Bought my XPS M1210 about 2 month ago.

Ok...just answered part of my own question, so for any of you w/ shoddy sound in skype, the issue lies w/ the Logitech Quickcam software (my appologies if this has been posted previously).

Click on the "Configure Audio" selection on the Logitech Video icon in your system bar. This brings up the Logitech Audio Tuning Wizard. On the 2nd page of this wizards, you'll see a box that says "Enable AEC (Recommended)". Make sure this box is UNchecked and complete the wizard steps. Hopefully if your system is anything like mine, it'll go a long way towards fixing things.

Still not sure if I can update Skype though...anybody know anything about this?
