The current, ugly Inspirons might be banished in the future and replaced by computers with a formfactor just like the one of the new XPS M1210.

If you look at the picture at the center of this page ( http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/xpsnb_m1210?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs) above "Face-to-face Communication," you can see how both computers look very different. At first, it may seem that one computer is just placed closer to the camera, but if you look even closer, you can notice slight differences on the LCD panel. The smaller laptop (M1210) has the speakers under the LCD like it's supposed, but the bigger laptop does not and the screen pads are designed a bit different. Maybe that bigger laptop is a future model!!!

I do see what your talking about but I think that the closer notebook has speakers in the same place. Its too hard to tell.

But what it comes down to, why would dell put a different model on the XPS 1210 page? Based on this it has to be two 1210's in the picture.

However, I do agree with you in that I believe dell will make all future notebooks similar to the 1210 design.

Very likely, Dell often rolls out a notebook with a certain design and then the rest follow. The Dell D410 last year carried the same design all Latitudes now have.

How long do you think they switch over to the new design?(assuming they do)

Interesting. On the closer model, the speakers are actually below the LCD panel, but they carry on almost all the way to the 'Dell' logo. I agree with you about the screen pads - on the closer model there aren't any pads either side of the screen about halfway down. Very observant!

but the same image that has a 360 degree turn, is the same as the large one ;) No speakers, and no scren pads to the sides ;)

In my opinion - this is the XPS line, the luxury line that looks different from the inspirons. They are going to match with the XPS line. Not the inspirons
