When using ventrilo and playing counterstrike source at the same time. I get a heavy static and skipping sound throughout the whole game play. does anyone know what's going on? i'm on vista and my programs are installed correctly.

vista is really irritating. I've never had these many problems before.

    thanks a lot

That happens to me as well except I am playing cz with vent and have xp. All of a sudden the sounds mutes and usually I log out and back into vent to correct it. I think the problem is software related.

    are you running windows vista?

yeah, some times it mutes as well and it says something about sound exceeding a certain limit and it mutes from there. It doesn't fix unless i do a complete restart.

but that's a different issue from the crackling sound that goes on during game play. It does this with Xfire as well.

i wouldn't really blame it on the m1210. I'm thinking theres an incompatibility some where.

Same problem with WoW. I've done a complete reinstall of vista (my first install was an upgrade install, second install was clean), but problem persisted.

My girlfriend was having a similar problem when using my 1210 to talk to her mom using Skype. It turned out that the mic in the camera was just too damn sensitive - once she put on headphones all the feedback and static she was having disappeared. I'm using Vista at the moment, but it doesn't strike me as an OS-related problem, but more of a hardware related one.

Guys, UNINSTALL the Sigmatel drivers and let Windows use the standard Microsoft driver. Things will be a LOT better and faster!

hmm...i will try and see if it makes a difference....

but i only get the sound issues when playing battlefield and sometimes counterstrike.... i don't have those issues while listening to music or watchin DVD's...

is there really any disadvantage using the microsoft drivers rather than the sigmatel drivers?

I personally noticed the performance overall of the system was higher when I removed the Sigmatel drivers. I have no idea how that makes sense but games (CS Source) run way better now too.
