I ordered my m1210 shortly before they started offering Vista vouchers. I bought my own copy of Vista Home Premium, and boy does that seem like a mistake. My computer is much less functional after the "upgrade". Here is a list of issues that have appeared since I put Vista on:
    • Does not reliably awaken from sleep when lid is opened. Sometimes closing and reopening will do the trick, other times it's "awake" (black display but backlight on, HD activity) but totally unresponsive, forcing a power-off.
    • Does not reliably go to sleep when lid is closed (once in a while my battery will go critical triggering hibernation after I leave it closed for a while)
    • Does not shut down properly--it always complains of a service that will not end (TaskEng.exe), requiring manual intervention.
    • Bluetooth functionality is severely restricted. File transfers work okay, but I can't find OBEX object push, for instance.
    • Front volume hardware buttons no longer work quite right (they do affect the volume, but the on-screen volume bar always shows 100%;).

Is there something I should have done differently when upgrading to Vista? Are there fixes for these problems? Right now I'm planning to use the restore partition to go back to XP (unless Vista hosed it...please, no!) until a Vista service pack arrives. I like the bling, and I love the start-menu search, but other than that, Vista has been totally underwhelming. :(
