    Hi,

just got my XPS m1210 a week ago and i am having some problems with the wireless a/b/g adapter. I have a fresh installation of Vista and the latest intel drivers installed from the dell website.

The wifi works fine for a while, then the light goes out on the wifi button and vista reports a problem with the connection. Hibernating and switching the wifi on and off using the hardware button doesnt help. the only way i can fix it is to restart the machine. then its all fine again for a while and eventually it goes again.

anyone else experience this or have any ideas?

    thanks

    Andy

This will sound crazy.... but open your computer, and check that there is nothing looking..... out of place. My Wi-Fi card had a wire that was not connected correctly, so as the computer got hotter, the wire would unplug itself. Instead of doing this yourself, you should take it to Best Buy, Or Circuit City. They will gladly do it for you, and they did not charge me anything.

you know you may have the right idea mate, it may be a heat thing, that would explain the inconsistency. i opened it up and reseated the card and the antenna cables, will see if it makes any difference but they looked ok to me. one thing i did discover is that one of the cables has its sheilding broken at 1 point and the cable inside exposed, shouldnt make any difference but i will have to get that replaced because it shouldnt be that way...

    Check your power management settings.

I had a problem with mine whilst letting windows control it, I had to manually reset the router every time I disconnected with my M1210, using the intel package cleared that up.
