After they have purchased a 1gb system and used it for sometime? Im wondering if there is a notable difference between 1gb and 2gb on a loaded up m1210. Ive used mine for about 6 months and its fine, but at times seems a little overloaded and taxed. The mem is getting down to $140 area for 2 1gb sticks, so its getting more attractive...

when you say you are looking at 2x1GB sticks of RAM I am assuming you have 2x512MB sticks of RAM. I'd say that the jump to 2GB will be reasonably noticed. It will be especially helpful if you are running Vista.

It should make a big diffrencne. If you are into gaming you will notice it quickly -

2GB is the sweet spot right now, its pretty much a must in vista for smooth operation, and gives you a marked improvement in XP if your an avid multi tasker or gamer.

I have two gigs of Corsair PC2 5300 from newegg.com. They are delivered this morning ^_^
But the thing is that my m1210 is not functional right now and DELL is going to send me a replacement system within 3 weeks. So before the replacement system arrives, I won't be able to use my new RAM... -
thanks for the replies. It looks like is well accepted that the 2gb does make a notable difference. That is what I was hoping to hear, even though i dont plan to run vista..

Although my computer is not functional, I am using it to run memtest86 on my new memory sticks
