Well, for starters, you can uninstall all the free trial software, like Norton antivirus, games, and AOL stuff. You can basically uninstall any software that you know you will not use.

Thanks. I've installed that stuff. How about these Dell applications:
    -Dell support
    -Digital connection warning software
    -NetWaiting

I would reformat and then just install the things you want/need, just uninstalling some of the dell bloat will not get you the performance of fresh clean install, your system registry will still be bogged down with crap, and you cant get everything that way anyway

Agreed. I gained 15fps on my system in games by doing a fresh install. With just uninstalling the bloatware, it preformed terribly.

ok. Thanks. What method of formatting should I use? The red Dell CD? And then use the drivers disc but not the applications disc?

first off read the sticky about reformatting, the red disc is your OS, I personally dont use the driver discs from dell because the first one I got from dell did not have the drivers for my particular system on it at all, just go to the dell support site and get them there

I hear this all the time, but I would think if you used a registry cleaner after uninstalling unwanted program results would basically be the same...

I'd like to see a test, or results/times of one, with identical programs after reformating or uninstalling using a registry cleaner after.

No need to format... use pc-decrapifier and that's that
