My cpu is t9300 with A09 bios and am running on power save mode. Is it normal for the vista battery meter to jump around a lot? For example when I'm 99% charged it will say 3:30 left then jumps to 4:15 then drops down to 3:00. I am not doing any thing heavily battery intensive, just surfing the web.

vista calculates battery performance based on the current power consumption of the laptop. infact many background processes will be accessing your CPU when you are surfing the web. this will lead to more processor/hdd activity and report a lesser battery life. use taskmanager to stop these processes and msconfig to permanently remove them from startup

I only have about 47 processes running, I also disabled my dvd drive, webcam, and wired ethernet port through device manager. What are some of the background processes that would access my cpu while surfing besides firefox?
