I havent really seen any in depth comparisons of the two, preferably battery life.
On Dell's website they have the LED going for $300, and wanted to more about it's effect on battery life.

Can anyone give me an in depth answer, as I'll be making my final decision purchases on the m1330 soon?

LED's better (high luminosity), lighter & pricier. CCFL is cheaper. That's about it.

Opt for LED. The extra can be re-couped from downgrading other components in the machine that you could upgrade yourself at a later date. (RAM/HDD primarily...)

You're stuck with the screen once it's built, so you might aswell get a great one.

    That's my perspective.

Look for one in delloutlet, ebay, or craiglist.

A XPS M1330 was tested here with the CCFL screen and the battery life was quite respectable. Ok it is in German but people should still be able to make it out. The battery eater tests are quite intensive as well -

The high speed Akku rises up in the back out of the Notebook up and raises it somewhat. The high performance battery protrudes from the bake OF the notebook and of raises it UP A bit. Fortunately it however still fits into the provided protection bag. Fortunately, he quietly fits into the included protective pocket

do you guys not find that the LED screen has a huge yellow tint to the whole thing? I noticed this the moment that I got it without comparing it to any other laptop /lcd monitor.

It was not something that could be fixed by calibration.
