I just recieved my new m1330...second replacement. It has the A04 Motherboard with an A07 BIOS. Does anyone have any ideas on what the changes are in the A07 BIOS?? Even when you go to Dell's download site, it still just lists the A06 as the newest BIOS download. What do everyone think??
Happy Holidays to all....

No Idea....

A04 is the the revision on the motherboard which means it has gone through 4 changes. The bios is a completely separate and you have nothing to worry about. Also having the latest bios is generally good thing. You have the latest rev for the mobo which is a good thing.

his original post says he has an A04 mobo and the A07 BIOS...all he wants to know is what changes have been made in the A07 BIOS...not stuff the he has already posted! -
Just got my motherboard replaced this morning. Found a loose screw inside that didn't belong anywhere on a 1330 while we were at it. Didn't notice what revision the board was, but the bios is A06. I know it's been suggested the motherboard might be the key to solving any whining issues; don't know, but my 1330 is still as quiet as the day I got it.
On a very positive note, my technician was VERY careful with my laptop. Everything went back in and works correctly. No scratches anywhere. Whew! -
Same thing I was thinking! Although my post in no way helps answer the OP's question either
-
A06 seems to be the bios available on the Uk Dell website. Is 07 available elsewhere?
-
I can't find ANY info on A07, not even on Dell's website. Here's a pic of the post on my m1330....I hope this works, I've never posted images on here before! Let me know if anyone finds anything out!

My next question would be how do we extract this lucky fella's A07 bios from the install CD's he was likely provided with...
Tis the season for good will and all. -
I would look for a new BIOS in the next couple of weeks to coincide with the release of Penryn. A07 might be the ticket.
-
After a google in the net I found out these two stuff about A07 BIOS:
1. Someone named "Freecableguy" installed 45nm T9500 (2.6GHz DC, 6MB L2) in his M1330 and tried to flash his bios with A07...Here is the link..."http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=245256"
2.Dell might have flashed ur M1330 with the new A07 BIOS for M60...
link:...."http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=40786"
Anyway I just posted my opinion....Im not sure how much of it is true.... -
I am wondering when I can download the new BIOS... -
I currently have a T9300 in my M1330 with A06 BIOS. The CPU seems to be working correctly, but I am unable to read my CPU temps. The machine itself seems to be detecting the temps because the fan does cycle. I attached a snapshot of the BIOS. Things are a bit wonky at the moment. The CPU is is rated for 2.5 GHz and it does run at that speed when maxed out, but the BIOS shows it is a 2.4 GHz part. I wish I could get ahold of A07 to see if that clears things up.
I think the guy at ocz may be confused. From what I read Penryn is going to support 667MHz DDR2 RAM then move to 1066 MHz DDR3 later on with a new chipset. The FSB is 800 MHz not the RAM.

There is no M1330A07.exe listed on Dell FTP, ftp://ftp.dell.com/bios.

I haven't done any formal battery run down tests. Vista's oh so reliable gauge is showing a little over 6 hours battery remaining. I'll stay on the battery for a while to see how it fares. I have the X3100 integrated graphics, LED display, and 6-cell. I recall on the T5750 that the initial battery life doing the same test was around 4-5 hours.
I have noticed a couple of things.
1. The machine runs cooler. Yesterday I noticed the the fan didn't run nearly as often as the previous CPU. While the machine was running I pulled the bottom access panel and touched the heatsink/fan. They were warm but not hot.
2. My machine has an A04 MB w/ A06 BIOS and it had the whine unless I used RMClock. RMClock does not work with the new CPU. On AC power the whine is not present. On battery power the whine is there but it isn't as severe....about the same as my T60 and my wife's MB. -
After 45 mins on battery it is still showing 5:16 remaining. That is with the display @ 2/8 and WiFi enabled. YMMV

hey duffyanneal ... wats ur experience index score for processor??

Engineering Sample? Does this mean the mass production model will have the same or a little bit worse of performance?
-
Just got my M1330 today and its also A07 Bios not sure what motherboard version is though I'll check later.
-
-
Is this a replacement or your first?
-
What's the trouble?
-
Its my first ordered on 12/21

Reason I'm returning the non-whiny one... I got the new one on the $799 off deal with a 4 year warranty... hmmm -
Thanks for the info on the A07 vs. A06. I've yet to find anyting. I'd really love to see what it actually changes?!? -
give that to me or i'll tell on you! -
-
I only hear a whine on mines if I put my ear right to the laptop otherwise I don't hear anything. I have the 250gb 5400rpm drive.
-
-
Do you think the 160GB 7200rpm drive could be somehow increasing the whine as well?
-
does your 7200rpm 160gig constantly making writing clicks. i turned off all indexing and it still makes noise.
-
Anyone needing A04, PM me...
-
-
Maybe its something to do with the free fall sensor that clicks.
The whine is much louder and more annoying than the clicks though. Clicks I can live with. -
-
It is the Seagate. The noise is really not that bad, it does get warmer than the 5400 rpm drives.
