Does anyone know if can I use the HDMI out on the m1330, using a HDMI to DVI cable, to display full 1920x1200 res on my dell 24" monitor?

I have DVI out on my 5 year old laptop using a dell port replicator and would rather not go back to analog if I choose to order a m1330.

    Thanks

    I don't think so since the 1330 doesn't support 1920x1200

I'd think it would since the video card should support it, but you should double check with Dell. Assume nothing :)

I think it should work fine. 1920x1200 is probably the highest resolution you can get without having to resort to dual-link DVI (unsupported by current HDMI implementations, but supported in a higher HDMI standard)

I am outputting 1680x1050 off a much older laptop to an external Dell 20" LCD simply using VGA. The second monitor is acting as an extended desktop, not a clone of the laptop display.

I'm pretty sure that would work, but make sure by checking the documentation of the 8400gs at nvidias homepage.
