So, i am encoding video and charging my battery. It is taking a VERY long time to charge (2 hours and only up to 57% on my 56wHr batt.) Also the power brick is HOT to the touch, and it is making a squeaking sound..

    Normal?

It is normal for the power brick to be hot. However squeaking isn't! Is everything okay with your power line?

What would cause a power brick to squeak?

Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) can cause squeaking in the power brick. Find out if it is affected by EMI. Are you using powerstrip/surge protector shared by other devices? Are you near Microwave/Hi-Fi Speakers/Large TV? Try with WiFi/BT off and check. Read the article below and see if it helps you:

From Wikipedia: Electromagnetic interference (or EMI, also called radio frequency interference or RFI) is a (usually unwanted input/output ripple) disturbance caused in a radio receiver or other electrical circuit by electromagnetic radiation emitted from an external source. [1] The disturbance may interrupt, obstruct, or otherwise degrade or limit the effective performance of the circuit. The source may be any object, artificial or natural, that carries rapidly changing electrical currents, such as an electrical circuit. If not EMI, then this could be your problem:

A power adapter making high-pitched squealing noises usually indicates an overloaded power adapter. That suggests a possible short somewhere in the computer, the connectors, or power cord between the power "brick" and the computer, or a severe power overload condition.

It is possible that a switch has failed and the power adapter is trying to supply both full power to the computer and full power to charge the battery, when they are sometimes designed to supply full power to the computer and partial power to recharge the battery.

Try uplugging the computer but keeping the AC connection intact. If it still squeals, then the power adapter is bad. If it squeals only when connected to the computer, check what other devices you have connected to the computer. Remember that if you add peripherals to USB or firewire ports, you may have to add in their power requirements too. The more devices you plug in, the more power is required.
