Hi all, thanks for looking at my post. I am having problems with my new m1330. When I am playing a video in Windows Media Player every 20 min's or so the video slows down and gets jerky but the audio keeps going at it's normal pace. Then a few seconds later the video speeds up and tries to catch up with the audio however, it never does and keeps freezing and slowing down. The only solution I have found is to shut the down the movie, wait 5-10 seconds and start the movie again from where I had the problem. I find it crazy that such a high spec laptop is giving such problems...

I am not sure what the problem is... Is it my laptop? Is it Vista? Is it the software? Is it because I have a 5400 rpm drive? It can't be, cause my older slower with less ram laptop's played back video just fine. Please tell me that someone has a solution to this issue and that I am not alone. Because the same movies I am watching on here were working great on my 1520.

    Movies playing:
XVID, DIVX on the included Windows Media Player (I did install the latest DIVX codec from DIVX site).

Which one would you recommend which plays mostly all? I am going to try the DivX player right now...

Update: You nailed the problem, it's Windows Media Player. WTF! WMP works fine on my older 1520 with XP...that is weird. I used to DivX player and the video runs wine. Thanks. Any way to fix WMP to run smoothly too?

Did you try disabling any unneeded background tasks?

Media Player Classic or VLC, both are free and 10x better than WMP :p .

Why PAY when there are FREE alternatives

I use MPC, it is better at everything than WMP, but there is still some jerkyness in 720p movies.

I can even play 1080p movies in MPC very smoothly. What is your notebook ? Maybe there is something else wrong.

I have the same problem. Even a standard xvid is giving me problems. And 1080p is really dodgy. Don`t understand what`s the problem. I have tried several different players, included all the above. I have tried different codecs and different drivers for my 8400M GS. The processor is a T9300 and 5400 HDD. Can anyone give some good pointers? Such a powerful machine should manage this without a glitch....

ive been having that problem too lately. Its been fine up until the last few days, windows did an automatic update and i think it might have installed something that has screwed it all up. I uninstalled and installed new graphics drivers but nothing seems to work.
