New laptop due to be delivered tomorrow or Monday. Based in Dublin, Ireland. Does the m1330 come with a fantastic amount of rubbish on it that will slow it down, i.e. is a re-installation of Vista REALLY necessary? Or am I fine to simply start it up and let 'er rip?

I'm sure it would be just fine with the bloatware, but why keep garbage on your HDD you don't need or will never use? To me, its not just increasing performance, but getting back some storage space.

I could not say but I hear that there were 70 odd processes running out the box and after a format with a clean Vista it took it down to 30 or 40. Can't remember exact numbers.

I am doing a format with 64bit Vista Ultimate when mine arrives.

Anywaym when did you order? Mine is still in pre-production since 26th Jan.

Not overly concerned with storage space. How much wasted space are we talking?

Double the number of processes? Wow. But am I right in saying one loses Mediadirect if one performs a new install?

I ordered a couple of days ago. However, through pulling in a favour I've got it bumped up the list. According to the order tracker it's been dispatched. :D

Use something like the pcdecrapifier and you'll be fine.. reinstall is not worth it.

If you follow flamenko's excellent guide as mentioned above, you will not lose MediaDirect.

Yep. I definitely owe a few pints for that one. Folks in the office have been left open-mouthed that it arrived so quickly.

Ordered a 1330 (UK) January 22nd and still in pre-production, I just had a massive argument with one of their managers about it, since the guy who said me it said it would be prioritized and now they say they no longer do prioritizing.
Which is stranger because they prioritized my XPS 420 and I recieved it in 5 days when I ordered that 4 weeks ago.
