    Hey guys.

First post. Great forum by the way.

I think I am ready to pull the trigger on these babies and I've just one question.

From looking at the pics, but is it me or does the white appear to be the only one with the glossy finish. The red and black seems to reflect less(shinyness in other words) than the white maybe to prevent fingerprint smudges, etc.

Man, if the black color had that glossy look as well, then it would be a no brainer for me.

I know I may have sound a bit trite, but if I'm gonna spend 2 grand plus, I want it to look right.

    Thanks.

You are correct. The white lid is the only glossy one. Crimson red and Tuxedo black are not glossy and thus will not have smudges on them.

Welcome to the club! Just remember that glossy introduces finger print problems and such. :(... hence why I like the matte.

I really don't think you can go wrong with any of the 3 choices

Thanks darthsat for the quick response.

    Yeah, I thought so.
I just wish they offered black glossy, it would match better with my other electronics a/v systems better.

But oh well, I know white is not such a popular choice here, but I think I will go with that one anyway.

    Thanks.

I think the white would look fantastic if it weren't for the grey bits on either side of the lid. Those are the only thing I really dislike about the 1330's look.

I went with the white... only because the 1330 doesn't come in flamingo pink! It will match my IPod and my phone... but of course so would a mac and I might actually get that before Ipods and cell phones are completely obsolete technology...

I read the white has 7 layers of paint on it. The red and black are listed as something like satin or matte finish. Im curious if the red and black can be clear coated or buffed to be made glossy?

Sure. If the finish can accept clear coat, I dont mind applying it myself. I like everything custom. Ive painted everything from model cars, to real cars, cell phones, computers, furniture, car parts, etc. My paint skills are good enough to make wood look like chrome, so this is easy if the base can accept clear.

By the time we receive the laptops you'll be able to put any kind of skin on... including a clear shiny one (without having to custom cut it).

I like the skins because they protect the finish and are not so fingerprint prone. They also come off with no residue.

Yes, by the time these things ship scientists will have genetically engineered skin that can be transplanted to laptop covers. No fingerprint problems, but if you like to work outdoors you will need to slather your machine with sunscreen.
