    m1330 control strip AND touchpad not working--related? keyboard Works though!

    Hi, I just bought a refurb Dell m1330. The there was a keyboard bulge and I fixed it myself. But now upon reconnecting the laptop, my control strip no longer works. There is a thin flat wire that connects the touch-sensitive control volume, play/pause buttons on the m1330 that no longer work.

    I did not break this at all when I was putting back the computer.

    I smelled a strange plastic smell though when turning back on the computer.

    What is the likely problem here? My keyboard works but now my touchpad does not work either.

    To add to the misery, I can't boot into windows vista anymore, which may not be related.

    Did my control strip fry, and if so, would that be related to my touchpad not working?
