    hey,

i recently did a clean install of vista on my m1330, however since then my mat****a dvdrw drive does not work... it doesnt detect when there is a disk in the drive or anything

I have tried searching for firmware on the net to no avail... also i have tried changing the dvd region to 4 (Australia) as it is currently on 2 but each time i just get an error "Unable to update region setting. Please make sure the driver contains a region 4 media and you have administration privilege"

    any help would be great

    thanks

Did you install all of the drivers including the chipset drivers?

You shouldn't need firmware updates and there is no specific driver for the particular hardware, but chipset and sata drivers are important. If you do a fresh windows install, the first thing you should do before installing anything else is install the chipset driver then the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. These should be installed before the rest of the drivers. Also, be sure to install the Quickset utility.

Could you list each burning software that you have installed and if its a full suite if it contains any packet type burning SW (Drag and drop on to CD/DVD) acts like a floppy disc!

Since you drive had been working try these options and before members start saying Vista does not need these drivers you'll find in many cases it does help to over come such an issues unless the drive it self is R.I.P.
I did post details on this some place in this forum before I'll try and locate it but try details below.

Download ForceASPI & aspichk.exe and install http://force_aspi_18.w.interia.pl read the info of its use. Reboot PC and check drivers with aspichk.exe and see if this corrects your problem.
