anyone who has installed their 4965 get the grey antenna to reach their card? its almost as if it is only for the wwan card, which makes me leery of yanking on it. i took the main panel off to see if it had some slack and it doesnt appear so.

Where did you get your Intel 4965 card from? What did your original Dell M1330 come with? You need to provide more details and if possible some pictures.

I bought it from dell. My laptop came with the dell 802.11g card. Install was easy and i do not have any issues after the install. From what i have read, these intel 4965 cards need to have 2 transmit (black & white) and 1 receive (grey)wire connected in order to achieve anything higher than 130mbps with a draft-n router.

I also bought the intel 4965 card separately
On the first m1330 I ordered, the gray antenna was much too short - I even took the keyboard off and tried to get some more slack. I wasn't happy with the screen either so I returned it and reordered a new one.

When I first opened the new one, the gray antenna was also too short, but it was close, and the new one had a better screen so I really wanted to make it work. I had to take the keyboard off anyway because I had a big keyboard bulge problem (caused by the very same antenna wires) I was able to route the wires correctly and pull the gray one far enough through that it would reach the intel card.

(Then I requested and received a new keyboard because the bulge problem made it permanently warped)

sounds like too much work, unless you did see a significant difference? i took my e1505 completely apart once to change out the cpu and decided that i will never do that again on another pc. The e1505 never seemed to be the same after that.

I haven't done any tests with the gray wire on and off, but I wanted it set up the way it was designed to work - they wouldn't put a third antenna on there for no reason

(but probably I'll never notice a real world difference)
