I'm on my 3rd m1330 motherboard. My question to all is if anyone has actual details on what the differences between the different mobo revs are.

My (2nd) 1330 came with A01, which had the GPU failure. It was replaced with an A04. Which also went south with GPU failure last weekend.

It was replaced yesterday with an - A00!! This really concerns me. I was hoping that the various revs on these mobos were to fix problems - including the GPU issue. So is it logical to assume that an A00 will most likely fail also?

Also, I plan on a Penryn upgrade. Is the A00 Penryn capable? I'm hoping so.

What I AM really pissed about is the actual mobo replacement that was done yesterday. Keyboard wasn't put back properly at upper left corner (sticking up), causing the power/media button strip to be very apparently uneven also. Very shoddy work.

So, I had to disassemble myself and properly route display/antenna wires. And worst of all, when I was in there, I discovered TWO SCREWS that weren't even put back where they were supposed to go. I didn't fully disassemble the machine, so I wonder how many other screws are still missing underneath.

Anyway - any detailed mobo info appreciated!!

Well, I can't offer much advice when it comes to 1330 motherboards, but sounds like you've had a really rough time of it. My apologies for that!

Qualexserv techs - but working on Dells behalf.

He had no statmat, no grounding wrist strap. And obviously - no pride in his work or desire to do a good job. I even commented to him that last time I had a mobo done, there were missing screws. The tech yesterday must have had left over screws when done and he knew it was a concern of mine - yet he STILL didn't go back and do the work properly.

I learned long ago in most cases to have them just ship the parts to me and I do the actual work, but mobos are pretty major and for warranties sake, I thought I'd leave it to them.

    NEVER again!!

I had the A01 rev mobo which also had GPU issue. Dell swaped it with A00 rev. mobo .. dunno why :( maybe this is the only one revision which don't have that Vertical lines death screen bug :) ?

I bought the M1330 in March and it came with the A00 version motherboard. I have the T8300 and 8400M GS. So, you can upgrade to Penryn with no problem.

Three motherboards replaced because of GPU failures?
Do you have the Geforce card or the Intel graphics?

vertical lines is not a bug, it's just GPU failing, which has nothing to do with mobo revision (I had rev a00 which failed back in Sep07 due to GPU). I think so far, only Nvidia gpus were affected, after all, they do run hotter than intel ones, and 1330 is not too good with dissipating heat due to miniature dimensions :)
