I got tracking info and found out it will arrive soon, yay! While I was talking with the agent I asked and was given the service tag for my 1330. I used the dell site to see all the parts and sure enough it lists the LED screen as being a CMO. Arrgh! I was hoping I'd luck out and get the Toshiba or Samsung which are both apparently better. No such luck.
I paid $150 extra for the LED over the CCFL. Is this CMO one really as bad as everybody says? Obviously I'll check it out for myself when it arrives, but now I'm anticipating some degree of frustration in perhaps trying to get a better screen.
Is anybody pleased with their CMO LED screen?

What's supposed to be wrong with the these screens?

MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
I have a CMO panel in my Samsung 2253BW monitor and it's great. Best monitor I've ever seen (that uses a TN panel...) so I'd expect the m1330's CMO panel to be great, too.

Do all the m1330s use a TN panel?

Apparently the CMO LED screen on XPS M1330 are more grainy than the other ones they sometimes use (Toshiba and Samsung LED screens) and have horizontal lines.
Annoyed, but will wait untilI see it with my own eyes. -

Assuming there's nothing physically wrong with it (dead/bright pixels), it should be just fine. I used to have one; it looked perfectly good, except for about 10 pixels that decided to go hyper over time. But graininess, bad colors, etc? Nope.
I got it replaced with a Toshiba. Is it better? Sure, but only because the hyper pixels aren't there. -
I was the one that posted a while back about the CMO screen and how I didnt like it. Well, I requested a replacement and they sent a new one with a toshiba screen and while i do think it looks better, the CMO doesnt bother me as much as it did before. I just got used to it. I kept both for 2 weeks so that's why I was able to compare. Bottom Line, dont worry about it.

Nothing wrong with my Toshiba LED on my 1330. Damn spiffy if you ask me.

I have a CMO screen on my 1330...and while it does have noticable horizontal lines, they're only noticeable when I think about it. That is to say, when I'm writing in Word or surfing the web, I don't notice them. But is it a deal-breaker? No. Dead pixels etc. are far worse.

Interesting development.
So as I posted originally, when I checked my service tag for my system after it shipped, it showed a CMO LED screen as the part for my order. That's why I made this thread.
I've been using it for a week or so and thought I guess this CMO isn't really as bad as everyone says. The viewing angles are not great but I sit in front of it anyways, no dead/stuck pixels that I can see, I didn't see any of the horizontal lines that people mentioned, it doesn't seem TOO grainy (maybe slightly), etc. Not that bad.
Then today for some reason I actually checked the device manager properties for the monitor and bing..it says "MONITOR/LCD2306"... I was like WTF? Assuming the actualy device manager is accurate then it seems like I actually have the Toshiba LED screen. I guess that may explain why I didn't think it was that bad, lol.
Now, the glossy screen in general is another thing. I think glossy screens are something I just don't like as much as a nice matte screen.
m1330 on the way - but has CMO LED (is it really so bad?)
