I ordered the m1330 with the LED option and found a slight problem.
My email states:
LCD and Camera Slim and Light White LED Display with VGA Webcam
[320-5583]
My online order status says:
[320-5591] Slim and Light LCD with Matte Black Casing and Camera XPS M1330
Someone please tell me the Slim & Light LCD is the upgraded LED and not the standard CCFL with 2MP webcam...
-
-
I believe the Slim and Light is the LED, but when checking my order the part number is different than yours.
Slim and Light White LED Display with VGA Webcam [320-5583]
Perhaps you should call and ask? It's not so much the wording that converns me, but the part number... or is that even a part number?
Regardless, I would call just to be sure and ease your mind. -
I have the exact same issue, order confirmation says LED display 320-5583, but the online order status link shows 320-5589 [Slim and Light LCD with Soft Touch Red Casing and Camera XPS M1330]
my guess is the 320-5589 and 320-5591 are color specific versions of the 320-5583? Since the LCD is neither slim nor light? -
Hmm perhaps. I ordered the black version and my details were as follows (from the confirmation email):
System Color Tuxedo Black Casing with Microsatin Finish XPS M1330 [310-9240]
LCD and Camera Slim and Light White LED Display with VGA Webcam [320-5583] -
praneeth: If that is the case, Nukey would also have the same part number as me
-
and nUkey: what does it say for the online order status ?
-
Sorry, Canadian Order Status system sucks. It doesn't show all the parts there. That could be another reason. Maybe the USA changes their part numbers in the email for some reason?
-
The slim-and-light display is the LED display. The CCFL (standard) display is thicker than the LED one, so it's just a matter of wording between your email vs online status. That's my opinion anyway
-
theoretically speaking, the LED screen tacks on a few days extra to build. And according to the shipping date, I should be getting the LED screen... :/
-
I just got off the phone with Dell, and the rep told me that the part number 320-5591 cannot be found.
SO they don't know if it's the LED or LCD screen. Tried to call the spare parts dept. But I think they're closed today
-
Hmm, I'm still worried.
-
Here's the email:
"The Led sku number is active jet ....I cannot make the change until it's happen.
We hope that it's will be today." -
I have the same issue, my order acknowledgment list:
I called Dell and asked them yesterday if 320-5591 was indeed the LCD with LED back lighting and was told it was. But I'm not total confident in the CSR's answer.
I would recommend everyone who has part 320-5591 or part number that did not match the part number that was listed in the order acknowledgment, call in and see if our screens are in fact the LED screen so we can get a general consensus just to make sure. -
I have the same discrepancy between order confirmation email and online status...showing different SKUs. But one thing that makes me think it will be ok is that it says slim and light..whereas the other ones arent slim and light. If anyone gets a concrete answer on this please post up.
-
How much extra is the slim and light compared to the standard LCD and why is it so much better?
thanks -
$150 more
thinner, brighter, uses less battery -

I went back and looked at my two orders for the xps m1330 and this is what i've found:
order place june 27th (confirmation email):
second order placed on july 2nd (confirmation email):
based on the wording of the part description, my second order that has part 320-5591 is the actually the Camera Panel SKU and that we're missing the SKU for the 13.3 LCD LED back light display panel (320-5583)
people who have posted their part number for the LCD who have 320-5583 also seems to having an accompanying SKU, which i believe is the Camera Panel part but for the others who have 320-5591, we're missing the LCD SKU.
Looks like I'll have to call in tomorrow -
Monkhi: Let us know what you come up with after you talk with them...need to know if its something we need to worry about changing or it will work itself out.
-
It will work itself out. Everyone who has an order that says "Slim and Light" and part number 320-5591 should get a LCD display with LED backlight otherwise the words "Standard LCD" should appear. Also the part number is different because Dell probably combined the LED panel and casing together and issued a new number. That's only my guess though. Also, it is not uncommon for Dell to issue multiple part numbers for the same parts.
-
I have the same situation. Web site says 320-5591 Slim and Light LCD with Matte Black Casing and Camera XPS M1330, while e-mail says Slim and Light White LED Display with VGA Webcam [320-5583].
-
Well, mine says 320-5589 instead of 320-5591, probably because its Red?
I think this will get worked out as well, but knowing my luck I wouldn't completely discard the chances of getting an LCD and having to return it... damn .. that would not be good after two months of waiting. -
-
EXACTLY ! As it is, my rep said she has to reorder it ! -
Well, i just got off the phone with a CSR rep. She was adamant that part 320-5583 was similar to 320-5591.
However she didn't put me on hold to verify anything (which i asked), just kept on telling me they were the same, which i have doubts about.
Maybe if a few of us call in to ask and post results, we could get a better answer. I'm dreading any further delays. -
I guess noone else ordered Red? Noone seems to have received the 320-5589 part number that my online status shows.
-
anyone got an update?
-
Anyone hear anything new?anyone else have 320-5589 or 320-5591 on their order status page?
-
I have 320-5591 SLIM LCD, BLK W/ CAMERA M1330
Tuxedo black with LED screen. -
It's hard to believe that they would give everyone different part numbers and have them be the wrong one....I guess we wait and see. Once they ship and we get em how are we going to tell the diff?
-
You take a hammer and figure out the rest
-
-
I ordered (and paid extra $$$) for the LED display, and I better damn well get the LED display...
My email shows the following:
320-5591 SLIM LCD, BLK W/ CAMERA M1330
I ordered via submitting my cart to a rep, and talking to them online to get 15% off...
The fact it says 'SLIM LCD' leads me to believe it will be the LED display, but who knows... -
Finally....through this email I have figured it out...
First this is what it is...
5583 = white background
5589 = red background
5591 = black background
All of these are the better, thinner display.
I have had 6 orders cancelled and resubmitted because of this and this is how I have come to this conclusion...
First and foremost, there are only 2 displays available...slim or standard. The standard one wording is very different then the LED. The LED always seems to reflect the word 'slim.
I would find it hard to believe it to be another slim display as there is a total of only .10" difference in the two.
Next, I was informed initially that, if you orders made online always reflect the 5583 initially and then the details change if you ask for another invoice.
The common thread in all of this is this... white seems to be 5583, red=5589 and black 5591 buyers.
I was told something similar and told that because this is so new in the system....there would be hiccups and this was prob one of them.
Great forum... -

You guys must be in the States...Just got my system, best of everything including SS HD, with the 50% Mystery Coupon Days coupon in Canada. Wanna here something even funnier??? On the same day, Dell called and told me they were replacing my junk M1210 (high squealing) with a new....M1330!! with the same specs.
So... now I have an extra M1330 fully loaded on the way. I felt like I fell in a bucket of gold!! -
I do have a question I cant get an answer to though... If there is a 30 day return/upgrade/exchange policy for system that starts on the invoice date....what happens when this expires before you receive the system (ordered 4Jul delivery est 22 Aug)???
Im asking because they comp'd me a warranty upgrade (3yr nbd to 3 yr nbd complete) because of my hours on the phone over this and cancelled orders. The thing is they told me they cant apply it until the system arrives and I know my tag number.
When I check the warranty upgrade policy...I see its also 30 days from invoice or order date.
Thoughts?? -
-
man i'm confused as heck
-
There are actually two numbers that relate to the colour...
For crimson red, the number is:
1 1 310-9239 SOFT TOUCH RED XPSM1
I think this relates to the fact that you chose that colour. Then the model number appears with the display. (5583)
As for a part of your dilemma, my first online order reflected this (along with the above):
Slim &Light White LED Display with VGA Webcam 320-5583
Then when the order was in production the order changed to:
1 320-5589 SLIM LCD, RED W/ CAMERA M1330
They cancelled and reordered 6 times and it always did this. This seems to be the common thread of these 3 colours and numbers. They also all say slim.
I think this covers all that you stated.... I hope this is the case anyway.
There seems to be another link regarding what monitor you got. It seems that most standard selected monitors have a ship date of 7 Aug where those with LED have 21 Aug and later...I just read this on another forum here and wonder whether that is accurate with all. -
So my point is, that your conclusion for the these specific SKUs referencing certain background(case top) colors is incorrect.
-
Im just offering what seems logical. Everyone I have read about with black is the 91 number and that is received on another invoice after the initial 83 number of the original number.
Everyone with 89 seems to be red and...
the 3 I know of have there white 10 coat paintjob still as 5583.
Im not saying Im right, but rather, offering what seems to be the most logical conclusion. In any case, they are all the LED which is actually a slim LCD with LED backlighting and not the standard
Think positive!!! -
Are we ready for this???
I just spent the better part of the day on with Customer Support and Sales in Toronto and finally to Online sales in India.
As a bit of a background, I have two systems coming in, one which I purchased with a 1/2 off coupon and the other is a dell complimentary replacement for my junky M1210.
Now my replacement invoice details this part:
1 13.3 WXGA TL WLED LCD,W/CAMERA $150.00
As per my purchase, the initial confirmation email said this:
LCD and Camera Slim and Light White LED Display with VGA Webcam [320-5583]
but was then this on the invoice I requested:
1 320-5589 SLIM LCD, RED W/ CAMERA M1330
In speaking to Dell, I learned that my total had been reduced with the change and was told the LED was no longer available; I thought this couldnt be right.
Earlier today, I spent the morning talking to a Repair executive who tried to figure out the parts; this was very difficult.
He stated the 5589 part was a total of 54.38 and although it did identify it as TL (true life) it also had CCTV in the details that were there. He stated that these details were very sketchy at best as nothing is on the system yet.
So.... I finally called Online Sales and spoke with them. They tried to change my order to the 5583 but could not. They tried getting quotes with the 5583 over and over again but this is what comes across every invoice quote they sent:
Slim and Light LCD with Soft Touch Red Casing and Camera XPS M1330 (320-5589)
I asked he why this was doing this and she said it didnt matter who ordered or what configuration, the 5583 wasnt available anymore. I again asked her if it was possible that the 5589 was the LED to which she replied that it would be unusual as the price was reduced when the numbers changed.
She then put me on hold. When she came back, she stated that this was the same as other orders where they requested the LED. The price was reduced in the final quote/invoice to reflect a lower price monitor. It was 75 bucks in mine which made sense as I had the 50 off coupon and that screen runs at 150.
She stated she believed that option was not available anymore to which I went to the website and saw that it was.
In the end, I have no less than 4 people looking into this, none of which has a true answer yet.
The most plausible theory I hear is that the 5589 and 5591 reflect the words "slim and light" which may mean that it is infact the led monitor but dell hasnt figured it out yet and reduces the prices of these. This is because there are only two sizes and the thinner is only .10 inch thinner.
Soooo..... a hero bisquit to any sleuth that can get this figured out.
Oh and by the way...my replacement system still says:
1 320-5583 13.3 WXGA TL WLED LCD,W/CAMERA
whjich is a valid product and code, just cannot be put onto any new systems from the online or call in ordering (call in told me the same Friday) -
alright my brain is fried trying to understand all that I guess I will just wait and see what happens
-
So, what happened then? have you received the LED screen?? I´m in the same situation now, in my confirmation email sais: Slim and Light LCD with Matte Black Casing and Camera XPS M1330 (320-5591) Is this the LED screen? Thank you.
