Just got my laptop, and I'm all happy and excited. but everyone knows it's only a matter of time before we start complaining![]()
99.9% of the laptop's functions work as expected, but when I try to put it to sleep, it 'wakes up' immediately, not even spinning down the fan. The screen does blank for a moment however (2-3 secs). Has anyone else experienced this problem, or come accross a solution? I'd like to try and conserve as much power as possible without actually shutting down the machine.

I have had this happen before. I have also had it where it won't turn the screen back on after sleep. Also, I sometimes get it where it goes "shutting down Windows" after I hit shutdown or restart.. but then it never shuts down.

Fixed the problem... by reinstalling windows :|
Looks like Dell's stock image had some problems with it, but reinstalling fresh seems to have fixed the issue. I also installed the 162.50 drivers from laptopvideo2go.com ( http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=14356). Those are the latest WHQL certified NVidia drivers (you have to use their modded inf file for the setup to accept the XPS system mind you).
And for extra kicks, my built in mic is working flawlessly! Skype sounded beautiful. Hopefully everyone else picks up on this thread and solves their mic issues too. -

Try following the steps here and see if it works:

Checked out the release notes for the 163.44 drivers:
This is after I clean-installed vista and disabled TMM as earlier suggested, so I'm not sure if this will work for everybody. But I'm happy! -
by the way, got the drivers from www.laptopvideo2go.com, and used their modded INF file to install it on my graphics card (8400GS not supported by default)

163.44 and 163.67 work sleepwise. 156.56 and 156.63 don't on my XPS-M1330 the BIOS update from A02 to A06 did not make a difference in this area

What I did in the interim when sleep didn't work for me - after reading around the forums - was forcing the machine to go into hibernate. Not so elegant, but better than nothing. Try that until new drivers are released.
Also, dumb suggestion, but if you haven't already you should get rid of dell's bloatware. It was giving me trouble. -
I am having the same problem with the m1330 that I just bought my wife. It will sleep just fine if it is running on battery, but I hit this problem if I am plugged in. I have messed with everything in the power settings to no avail. It is running Vista Home Premium (I think). Anyone have any suggestions?
m1330 won't go to sleep
