I upgraded my RAM from 2*1GB to 2*2GB OCZ RAM but I can only see 1GB available when I run dxdiag. Any ideas?

Vista 32bit
CPU-Z seems to think I have 2*512MB of PC2-4300 RAM
-
Bizzare... Take the 2 back out, reseat them. Let me know what happens...
-
is this just with dxdiag ??? what does the system properties say (right click my computer>properties)
-
I still get the same after reseating and swapping the RAM modules around. The BIOS says that there is only 1GB of installed memory in dual channel mode, but the modules definitely say "OCZ 2GB 5-5-5" on them.

This is the RAM I purchased:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132901
I used an anti static strap like I always do so I doubt it's static damage to the chips. -
If you put the old RAM back in do you see 2 GB again?
-
If you do it's very likely you got screwed...
-
CPUZ information:
-
the hymp564s64cp6 line of RAM according to
http://www.hynix.com/datasheet/eng/module/details/module_08_HYMP564S64CP6.jsp
Is infact a 512mb line. You got screwed. -
When only running one stick in either slot I get 512MB memory registered and Windows doesn't want to boot up very well at all >_<
-
Edit: The sticks that came with the laptop were hynix, could this be the cause of any issues? -
No. The Hynix sticks it came with were something other than hymp564s64cp6, as they were 1gb sticks... Dude, call ebuyer and raise all types of hell.
-
-
Well that didn't help, time to send it back I guess.
-
Heh... looking closely on the RAM one of the pair is branded hynix, the other is transcend.
-
Hope it turns out well for you
-
And it's been posted. Thanks for the help guys.
