has anyone owned both wsxga+ and the new LED wxga+ ? or played around with both? is the loss in screen real estate worth it to have LED backlighting?

one last thing, are there any reviews of the LED screen? :D

oh yea, does anyone what the max number of gift certificates you can use per purchase is?

I don't think anyone has the LED screen yet.

I would actually get the 1680x1050 resolution simply because the extra real estate is pretty important IMHO. LED is really nice but I think I would prefer the larger res in the long run. A bit of a subjective choice I guess.

For some reason I can't even get to a configuration page with the LED option. Anyone care to link me? (I've looked at both Canadian and American website)

as far as I've seen the LED option for the 1530 is only offered on their small business models. So if you look under home/home office you won't see the LED option. another bizarre choice made by Dell.

The 1680x1050 is the least bright of all the configurations available. Just 200 nits, very poor.

The CCFL 1440x900 is 250nits, and the LED 1440x900 should be around 300nits (havent checked the spec yet). The extra brightness really helps with avoiding reflections on glossy screens.

I don't know about that. My LG is very, very bright. I know what the Specs in the manual are but I would bet the LG has better specs than that.
