    Hello.

My m1530 has a Samsung screen. It is WXGA with 1280x800 resolution. Most of the threads about the Samsung vs. LG issue are in reference to higher screen resolutions or WXGA+ (or WSXGA).

Anybody have a WXGA 1280x800 Samsung screen? Do you find it bad? Did you contact Dell? What did you say?

I have a CFT WXGA, and it's awesome except for vertical/horizontal viewing angles which could be a bit better

Which one is the CFT, if I may ask? :)

Edit: It seems it's actually the Chunghwa Pictures Tubes, from what I've gathered. I've got the same one on the way. Glad to hear you like it. (at least when you're sitting directly in front of it)

My E1505 WXGA was AUO. When I compare side by side with my M1530 LG WXGA, I could not tell the different. I would worry when the laptop arrives, and you have a bad screen.

Don't worry too much. As many people said that people, who don't have problem with their screen, don't post on this forum. Dell ships million of computers per day, the complains are small percent to me.

First 1530 was received 12/18/2007 and had the 800 screen. However the c key was not formed correctly and would fall out. Dell wanted to send me a keyboard and I would install it. Dell never suggested a tech perform the repair.
$1700.00 computer 2 days old and I was going to repair - no way.
A replacement computer was ordered and shipped three weeks later. The replacement screen was so dim that next to the first machine it was not useable. It certainly was not useable in bright daylight. I could'nt tell you the brand of the first machine but the vertical and horizontal viewing angles were very poor. Poor for a top line machine. I am typing this on an Inspiron 7500 - very slow but with a screen that blew both the XPS away.
Dell offered a $200.00 cash credit to keep the second machine.
I however returned both on 1/17/2008 and am paying interest on the credit card. Today Dell emailed that refunds take 30 days.
My opinion is that Dell rushed the 1530 to market using screens that do not fit the luxury or premium advertising and pricing.
I doubt that I will reorder a Dell when I finally get the refund. I am looking at Sony and HP. Also Dell's pricing structure where one must seek coupons and extra discounts are given to certain employees borders on improper. My small business with six Dells will go elsewhere. Sorry for the rant!

My 1st 1530 had the Samsung WXGA , it was really awful, looked like a piece of panty hose was stretched over the screen and sparkley.I returned the Laptop and they sent me a new replacement 1530 with an LG LCD Panel.

Is it possible that my samsung screen is different? Mine seems pretty clear. It's a little dark but no unusually dim...

how specifically was the screen grainy?

I believe my above description says it all, double click your recycle bin icon, then maximize the screen, its most noticable on a white/light background.
Also,go to a store that has a variety of Laptops, look at HP's for instance,I have yet to actually see a grainy screen on an HP built Laptop.

I notice the slight sparkle...but the graininess, I notice, is most obvious around the vista logo for the start menu.

So I spent over an hour with Dell going into great depth about this issue, and after asking a bunch of different people...phrasing it a bunch of different ways the final verdict is that they will replace the WHOLE computer, but not JUST the screen.

Do you think it is still worth it??

The LCD panel is the window which you and the computer interact,if the LCD is sub par it marrs the overall experience, only you can determine weather the effort involved is worth it to you.
For me however,a nice Panel is an ABSOLUTE must.
