Has anyone received there 3 prong adapter (90w) from DELL yet? If so, can you please tell me the part number and/or sku numbers for both pieces?
Third party offerings that I have seen on the net post sku and part numbers that do not appear on dells site.
Thanks![]()

buda, i have rec'd mine and they are not compatible w/each other. they are both three-prong but are of a different style.
-
Thanks for replying Mt9,
Can you tell me what the codes are for the items you received? That way I won't let them make the same mistake, if you don't know what the codes are, just enter in the service tag code for the items that were sent to you here: http://support.dell.com/support/top...rt/my_systems_info/en/details?c=us&l=en&s=bsd
When you spoke to them about this mistake did they send you (or in the process of sending) a replacement pair?
Thanks
Buda -
Buda, The first package i rec'd from Dell had 1 cord -
the three - prong adapter that attaches to laptop.
Item #UU572. This looks like the right one and connects to the laptop. BUT, i didn't get the cord that connects to the wall. (this piece is essential and has to be designed to fit item UU572 above).
Dell sent me a second package. This one contained three-prong cord that connects to the wall.
Problem solved??? NO! this 2nd cord did not fit with the original cord connected to laptop.
NET NET: they should be packaged as a kit. For some reason Dell is sending me individual pieces that happen to be three prong but that are not designed the same.
sorry about the long writeup. Pls let me know if u
learn anything at your end. I'm working on this
first thing this morning. I need this ac adapter ASAP. -
Buda, update:
here's what dell told me: Adapter is part #UU572
Connecting cord is UY685
i can't guarantee this is correct. As soon as I receive
the UY685 I'll let u know if they work together. -
Hmmm... I just checked my order. It shipped yesterday, overnight service, and these are the part numbers associated:
Quantity Item Number Description
1 DF266 Assembly,Adapter,Alternating Current,90W,M07,Lead Free Liteon
1 DF771 CORD,Power,125,1M,C7,2P Dual,United States
It looks like it should be at my door when I get home from work, so I will give an update later today. -
Hi sko105 your getting the 2-prong cord and adapter, thats the exact same codes I have for my m1530, take at look at the DF771 code, the 2P in the description line identifies 2-prong.
Hi Mt9, great to hear hopefully they get it right this time and send you the correct stuff.
Buda -
That is just awesome. Guess I need to jump back into the xps cue.
-
Buda and sko105,
i'll let u know as soon as i get the package from Dell is it works. -
Mt9,
Did a quick lookup on the net for the two codes supplied, this is what I found
1 UU572 ASSY,ADPT,AC,90W,CR,DLTA,3P,WW (Saw this part listed on a Asian site for usage with a 250v cord, code: HM298 CORD,PWR,250V,2.5A,1M,C5,D,CHI for a Vostro 1400)
1 UY685 CORD,PWR,125V,2.5A,1M,C5,D,US (Saw this part listed with a D820 system for use with code: DF315 ASSY,ADPT,AC,90W,M07,LTON,3PIN)
Before you use this MAKE sure it's the correct voltage for your m1530 (Are you from the US?).

Just got off phone with XPS technical support. The power supply shipped to me is a 2 prong supply.
He is sending another one. He said its a special part number but its the same mentioned above, UU572 Power Supply and a UY685 power cord.
Sounds like this might be a technical service bulletin type issue. Hopefully this power supply will be overnighted as well. -
Mt9 or sko105, when you are able to see your order can you please post the description beside each code? Thanks
sko105, did they charge you for the cables/power supply, or do you just have to return the previous pair?
Buda -
I called them up and the sent me the 3 prong adapter, however its only 65 W.
Is that gonna be enough or should I send it back and try to get a 90 W?
I have the 8600 graphic card.
btw, the asked me to send back the old cord, no charge otherwise -
Unbelievable. Looks like its back into the XPS cue. See anything wrong below????
1 DF771 CORD,Power,125,1M,C7,2P Dual,United States
1 UU572 Assembly,Adapter,Alternating Current,90W,Cost Reduced,Delta- Ac Adapt,3P,World Wide -
Junglemuffin, you definitely need the 90Watt power supply.
-
There was a forum poster here that tried a 65-watt adapter by mistake, he had nothing but problems.
sko105, I guess they didn't charge you as well? I can't believe they messed up again, what a bunch of wankers.
Buda -
Well, I have all new part numbers now.
1 F2951 Kit,Cord,Flat,3F,D3W/3P Proposition 65,United States
1 9T215 Assembly,Adapter,AC,90W, 19.5V,World Wide
It looks ok on the surface, but we will see when I finally get them. -
Buda, many thanks for your info above. I will definetly make sure watts are 90. Yes, i'm from US.
SKO105, somewhere above in one of u'r threads u mentioned a UU572 adapter. if u hve this I'd hang on to it and get the pwr cord (#UY685).
...this is almost as confusing for me as the part numbers for the different screens.
I'll let u know as soon as i receive new parts if they work
and their correct part numbers. regards,mt9 -
Notebooks are meant to be mobile and therefore should be used on battery and not AC. Use AC only to charge your notebook!
-
MonsPubis, thanks for your input. Not sure we're on the same page however. I've checked around and have been told its 'ok' to use battery when needed and rely on AC
otherwise. Note: on a weekly basis its important to let Battery run down to about 20% and then recharge.
Anyway that's what I've been told. I'll keep your
note as well as I continue to pursue this. -
A lot of people buy laptops to work long hours, then move to new locations and work again. A lot of people buy laptops to be desktop replacements because they don't want to move an entire PC all over the place. To say you should only work on battery power is just retarded. -
-
that should explain it -
i had a power supply related question. is the pin that goes into the m1530 circular or a octagon shape for you guys? the service manual shows an octagon one and i have a circular pin.
-
Circular here, North American version of the m1530.
-
Buda and Sko105, I'm bummed. Today I received two
packages from Dell. One contained Part UU572 a three prong 90 watt ac adaptor but no 3-prong power cord
(Part UY685--i think this is the part #).
The second package had both the ac adaptor and
power cord 90 watt but for '2-prong connection'.
Has anyone rec'd both ac adaptor and power cord for the three prong style that can confirm part 3's.
back to the folks at Dell. -

Mt9, that's just about my situation too. They were sending me a 3 prong adapter. I got the box, it had the 3 prong adapter but a 2 prong power cord. I spoke with someone else and said they would correct it. Guess what! I got a 2 prong adapter and a 2 prong power cord. So now, I have 2 incorrect adapters.
So...as I'm typing this, I'm on hold waiting once again to speak to someone with the hopes that I will get what I need this time. -
I recieved my second adapter today. Its actually a different part number that the three others I posted above.
1 F2951 Kit,Cord,Flat,3F,D3W/3P Proposition 65,United States
1 U7809 Assembly,Adapter,Alternating Current,90W,Lead Free,Liteon
It looks brand spanking new, thought I might be getting a refurb power supply, but it has that nice, cancer causing formaldehyde smell.
...and it works. No more tingling, vibrating, shocking
So after replacing the WSXGA+ lcd with an LG, getting a new power supply, I can finally say I really, really love this laptop!!! -
Sko105, excellent, I'll "TRY" and order the kit you got above. Thanks for letting us know.
Buda -
Sko105, great news!!!! i'm happy for you and glad
u'r computer now meets your expectations!!
thanks so much for taking the time to provide the
part numbers above. I'm back to Dell again w/u'r
new information. many thanks. -
Sko105, its mt9 here. pls can u send me the Dell part numbers that correspond to your part # F2951 and
Part #U7809. Maybe that'll help me. Thanks,
Are u still pleased w/the effect of your new ACParts? -

Well, after Dell sending me the wrong items twice...and after being on hold for nearly 40 minutes last night. Here is the explanation I received from the tech support rep.
He told me that the 2nd incorrect 2-prong adapter and 2-prong power cord I should keep. He said that it is the adapter for the system and that I should use it because my original adapter was overcharging the unit which is the reason for the shocking. So basically, the 2nd 2-prong adapter I received will resolve my issue. This 2nd adapter is obviously used 'cause the darn thing looks very worn and even broken around the flex part. I highly doubt it will resolve the issue as it is exactly the same as the one sent with my original unit, voltage and all.
The first tech guy told me that dell's engineers realized the problem and that the 3-prong adapter would fix the issue. Completely different story than the 2nd guy. He at least got the dispatch half right and sent the right adapter but wrong cable.
I'm tired and I'm just returning both of the wrong adapters. Maybe when I have more time and not so much school work I'll deal with waiting on hold with them 'til they can give me a better explanation. -
I just talked to someone in XPS support who said there was no 3 prong adapter for the m1530.
-
i talked to someone on the xps online chat. I got the same response.
-
wacritchlow, there's a mixed bag of information about this topic. There are 3-prong dual triangle-shaped 90 watt ac adapters and 3-prong triangle shaped power cords out there that will fit the 1530. While they were not designed exclusively for the M1530 they are used w/1530s, and do diffuse some if not all of the vibration/shock issues some owners are experiencing.
so maybe its semantics here. the rub here is that there are so many ac adapters on the dell web site all w/different features (i.e. 3prong triangle-design versus a 3prong linear line design) w/different watts, etc.
Hope i didn't confuse the issue here but i wanted to clarify. -
Two prong adapters are fine too for 1530's. It depends
on your individual needs. -
Buda -
buda, thx - that's good info for me. appreciate it.
-
Mt9, they sell lots, and I mean lots of Dell adapters on ebay, original and "compatible" ones, stick with the Dell originals, all you need is a:
90W adapter,
PA-10
Input: 100-240V ~ 1.5 or 2.0A, 50 - 60Hz,
Ouput: 19.5v ~ 4.62A
7.5mm circular center pin laptop plug, and obviously you want the 3-prong ones, on the other end whether they are triangle or inline pin config (from wall to adapter) doesn't matter.
You can get original new dell adapters for less $24 on ebay.
If your sick of dealing with Dell csr's moronic attempts at sending you the wrong replacements, then I would suggest going this route. -
buda, thanks. it gets pretty exhausting...
and, very much appreciate detailed specs too.
Have a good day. mt9 -
I just got an m1530 and it came with a 2 prong power supply. What is the difference between the 2 prong supply and the 3 prong supply? Why do you need a 3 prong? And how did you convince Dell that there was something wrong with the 2 prong supplied?
-
Anyone know whats better about the 3 prong?
-
you don't get a tingling sensation when touching the aluminum palm rest.
-
No, am I supposed to? lol.
-
mowing machine, make no mistake - 'more is not better'
in this example.
the 'two prong' is the ac adapter shipped w/1530's. Its works fine!
some few of us have had experiences w/slight tingling when touching palm rest. That's all there is to it.
No convincing of anything. I get the sense u'r looking for something wrong.
If it works - don't fix it! Enjoy your new 1520. -
sorry, meant 1530 not 1520.
