Quick question about the m1530 wsxga+ and wxga+ resolution. I consider wxsga+ on a 15.4 inches screen is a bit too high of a resolution for such a small screen so my plan is to choose the wxga+. I do have a 22 inches LCD with a 1680x1050 resolution at home. If I choose the wxga+ would I be able to change my wxga+ laptop to 1680x1050 when I'm on my 22 inches screen or will the maximum resolution possible be 1440x900?

    Thanks in advance for answering

Yes, you'll be able to run at 1680x1050 on your 22in monitor. Graphics cards can support really high resolutions (even the x3100 can output a 1920x1200 resolution), it just depends on what the max resolution your monitor/display can handle is.

Is it true that wxga+ is brighter than the wsxga+ version?

It really all depends on which panel you get. Dell uses several manufactures for each screen, its really a crap shoot. But Yes your plan sounds fine. Just make sure to update to the lastest Nvidia drivers. You can even run Dual Monitors, or just run your 22" LCD. Just make sure you buy a cheap HDMI to DVI cable.
