Has anyone gotten their m1530 wet already? as in, someone accidentally spilled kool-aid, coke, or whatver on it?

    Does this void the warranty?

Have you fixed the sticky keys? (the laptop is workin normally, except for the keyboard[teh stickyness, and the mousepad keys])

I dont think so. Thing is, I do not live in teh USA, though I ordered it from dell USA...

BEsides, its not THAT bad, the keys work fine and all, its just ... they dont have that "new" feel anymore.

My 3 year old son emptied a coke into my old notebook a few years ago. Only advice I can give to anyone is:
    1. Turn if off right away...battery out etc. (my wife closed the cover and left it running...made me a nice dinner and told me what happened around 4 hours later)
    2. Open it up and take out what you can to help it dry (areas rusted in my old system from residual soda).
    3. Check the warranty well before you sign up for it...when I bought that old laptop the salesman assured me that it would cover accidents as did the wording on the agreement. They classified my son pouring the soda as "deliberate abuse" and refused to cover the repairs. The time/effort involved in suing them just wasn't worth it to me so I let it go and got a new one.

Yes, fortunately I was using the laptop while it happened, my brother spilled some kool-aid type of beverage accidentally, and some of it fell on the keyboard, i forced a shutdown, unplugged everything, even the mouse and AC plug..

I left it drying, and cleansed it with a towel, left it overnight (everything happened at around 9pm, i turned it on at 6 am,and it is working fine, there's no quirkyness of internal programs, cd music playback is ok and stuff..
the only thing is this, the really light keyboard stickyness...
the more i type, the less sticky they become...

so i guess it'll just "fix " itself eventually, the drink was not really sugar-heavy...

Um.. does anyone know of a nice, and effective way to just clean it, without opening up the laptop?

you should take out the keyboard and clean thoroughly. it shouldn't be difficult take apart. try removing the 'stickiness' with windex. just spray little bit of windex and add some water. make sure you squeeze all the water out before you wipe anything.
