I have the 320gb HDD on my m1530 and recently did a reformat, but I noticed there were 3 partitions and the biggest one I could only use about 266gb of the space. So I install Vista and now I only casn use 250gb or sth of the 266 gb space. It's annoying that I've somehow lost 80gb. There is a D drive which I can't even access so what is the point of that?

Can I reformat and delete that partition? I wasn't sure as I didn't want to screw anything up, but I'd like to use as much of my 320gb space as I can.

Sounds like it might be your media direct partition? Or maybe the recovery partition...? Hmm, if you formated the disk I doubt it is the recovery.

Flamenko wrote a great guide on doing a clean install of Vista on Dell systems and it covers some sections on what kind of partitions there are on the hard drive. Not sure it is exactly what you are looking for but there are a few good pieces of info in there.
