Just got this via email (10 days of deals, today only on XPS system):

    Link: http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&kc=&oc=DYCEHJ1
    or search on: DYCEHJ1

Starting weight of less than 6lbs*
    • A mobile powerhouse with an Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7250
    and 3GB memory*
    • A 160GB* HD lets you take your multimedia on the road
    • Includes built-in webcam, DVD burner and a biometric
    fingerprint reader for added security

    Offer ends 1/18/08, 11:59pm CT

    This system (Jan 18 only): $1199 -- 160gb, 2yr warranty, 56WHr 6cell Link

    Main page system: $1499 -- 320gb, 3yr warranty, bluetooth, 85Whr 9 cell Link

If you match up the bluetooth, the battery and the warranty, you come within $130 of the other with the difference being the hard drives.

If you configure both links for the same hard drive (200gb 7200rpm) and all other options identical, the price comes out exactly the same.

Bottom line, if you don't need the extra warranty and faster or bigger drive, you might save today on this link. FYI...

[EDIT] - I just found that there is no charge for choosing a color using the Jan 18 deal, so you save a whopping $25 if you want something other than black. Oh, and you get more bluetooth options too; headset, etc. I personally never find the warranties are ever in force when I need them so I take the self-insure route by saving money across the board on not purchasing extended warranties and choose instead to bite the bullet if/when the tiime comes to repair or ditch something. YMMV.

Nice deal since you can 'downgrade' options if you want unlike the "BEST" config and still get the same discount.

I already have a thread for this..

Anyway I'm thinking of buying one... The fully configured modell with T7500/320G HDD/1680x1050 is around $1500 with two batteries. But now I can get a similar configuration (except the hard disk which would be 160G instead and the extra battery what I don't really need) for $1330.
    Not bad, I believe...

I did see yours before posting, but I thought your thread may have made people believe it was only good for EPP folks, which me and a lot of others are not able to use.

Although, for me this is the best deal recently, I think I might wait a bit longer for a few things: Vista sp1, LED display options, and a higher percentage of 'good' screen reports. My dell i9300 system screen is 'ok', but I've seen and used better and it can be a little frustrating playing the swap it out game.

I honestly though it was available on the EPP site only :) Sorry for the confusion.

It'd love to have it with the LED screen as well but I don't want to let all the discounts go.

Is there such thing as a 1600x1050 LED screen?

LED screens are more expensive too.

Sounds ok, I'll get the same probably, with 1680x1050 and 2 years warrantly, $1330 after EPP discount. Plus tax which is I have no clue how much is in Florida :(

(BTW we have 20% tax on everything in Hungary so that does suck more.)
