    m1710 : hard drive swap?

    I've had some older laptops and u could always just pull the hdd out without much work. On my m1710 I don't c the same sort of thing. I'm wanting to buy a 160gb 5400 and keep my 60gb 7200 to turn into external hdd. Is there any guides out there with m1710 disassembly? Do dell pc's only read dell signed parts? Will I need special drivers or anything to make the new hdd work? Thanks a lot

    I would think there is something on Dell's site which explains this. Or the service manual should help.

    should be like all the others. pop two-ish screws out of the cradle and slide the drive out. disconnect from chassis and voila, done.
