    m1710 li-ion batteries....how long do they last for?

    I spoke to a dell rep, ordered a m1710 with a spare battery. However, she said that they reported minimun 5+hrs of normal use and maximum 8hrs on a single full battery discharge.

    Anyone with an m1710 could tell me how long the battery actually works for? Please distinguish if its "normal use" or "gaming use".

    Normal being internet, soho, etc.

    Gaming, MMORPG's, doom 3, etc..

    That's advertised time. In that laptop, should last about 3h~ in normal use and less on gaming. Those times they give are for an integrated solution or an X300 class GPU

    The XPS M1710 should be able to get around 2.5 maybe 3 hrs with the screen dimmed and everything. A review can be found at: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=49868 According to this review, with 6/7 brightness it got 2hrs 5mins. 5-8hrs is out of the question. The Dell rep doesn't know what he is talking about.

    that's very good for a gaming laptop. My friends Alien Ware lasted for like 1.5 hours.
