    I am getting like half an hour battery life with volume off, brightness down and wifi on. Is this normal? I have 1.86 coreduo and 7900gs and 1 gig ram.

    Is this on maximum performance or maximum battery life settings?

    You should look in power management to see if you can make it better, but I have no clue if it's normal or not to get that low after only 6months. Probably not. Maybe you can get a new battery if it's still covered and it's a faulty battery.

    That is unusual. I would expect more life. Maybe you should call Dell Customer Support.

    For a battery to die that quickly is not normal, I would call Dell.

    Clarification: For it to have that short of a charge in 6 months is not normal. I would assume life like that after 1-2 years of use.

    Yeah short battery life is normal but 30 minutes is a bit extreme. I get about 1 hour or s. It also matters what you are doing on the computer, playing games and such will drain the battery faster then having the computer sleep for instance.

    I agree that the battery should last longer, but don't put your hopes up for a 17" laptop!!!
