I have an older Inspiron 2650 I would like to add some RAM to. All the places I look to purchase the RAM, claims the Laptop has two banks. I look under the memory access panel and all I see is one bank and one module. Anyone know where the second module is located, or is there only one?

    thanks

Probably underneath the keyboard or soldered directly onto the motherboard.

"A second memory module resides on the upper surface of the system board under the EMI shield. To replace the memory module under the EMI shield, perform the procedure for removing the EMI shield. Then replace the memory module."

thanks for the help. At least now I know I'm not crazy. I'll google procedures for removing the EMI shield.

one more question...since replacing this hidden 128MB module is way more complicated, couldn't I just replace the easy to access module with a 512MB (total=640) module maximizing system capacity (512MB) or would this not work?
